What are you planning to do with family and friends in the San Rafael neighborhoods of Marinwood & Lucas Valley this Independence Day weekend; June 30-July 2? Why don’t you have a look at the local fun things I’ve found for you to do?

Friday, 11am-11pm; Marin County Fair & Exposition
“Let The Funshine In”
Marin Center

Let The Funshine In

Marin County Fair

Opening day of the 76th annual Marin County Fair & Exposition at the Marin Center celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love.  This historical and cultural phenomenon celebrated Marin’s dedication to all the things we should hold dear in our lives; family, agriculture, art, and the environment.  “Let The Funshine In” runs from Friday through July Fourth and promises to be the best fair ever.  Ann Wilson of Heart headlines a schedule of concerts that is simply jam packed with talent.  Click here to read much more about Marin’s festival highlight of the year.  Then visit the official website to buy tickets and plan your activities and things you most want to see and do.

Saturday, 10am-5pm; Paleo-Indians of Marin
“A Face From Every Angle”
Art Works Downtown

A Face From Every Angle

Paleo-Indians of Marin

Back in 1976, anthropologists found evidence that the human race made a home for themselves in Marin as far back as 8 to 12 thousand years ago.  The Paleo-Indians of Marin exhibition currently on at Art Works Downtown will show you how these technologically advanced people took images of all the forces in their lives and recreated them on all the tools they used.  Click here to read more about the exhibit and visit the Art Works Downtown website to get further information.

Sunday 8am-1pm; Marin Sunday Farmers Market
Marin Civic Center

Marin Sunday Farmers Market

Marin Sunday Farmers Market

Every aspiring and caring cook, chef and partner knows that the best results come from the preparation of locally grown fresh produce.  And everyone knows the best place to get fresh produce in the Marinwood area each week is the Marin Sunday Farmers Market at the Marin Civic Center.   It’s the largest community gathering in the state and it’s a superb place to stock up on all your favorite fresh fruits & vegetables, breads, eggs, cheeses, meats and seafood.  If you are still not sure, then I suggest you head over to Yelp and see what everyone is saying about the Marin Sunday Farmers Market. Finally, you can visit the AIM Instagram feed to see pictures from all the other farmers markets under the Agricultural Institute of Marin banner.

Sunday, 10:30am; FREE Kindermusik in the Park
Miwok Park, Novato

Kindermusik in the Park

FREE Kindermusik in the Park

It’s the first Sunday of the month once again.  And that can only mean that it’s time for FREE Kindermusik in the Park in Novato’s Miwok Park.  Bring an instrument or just bring your desire to move to the rhythm of the beat.  This event is sponsored by the Music with Melissa Studio.  Click here to read more and don’t forget to check out the Music With Melissa website to sign up for email reminders as well.

Enjoy another great weekend and maybe we’ll even run into each other at one of these Marinwood & Lucas Valley local fun things to do. Please make sure you tell me all about your great weekend on the blog’s Facebook page.
