Marinwood in the fall

The streets of Marinwood, or Lower Lucas Valley, have similarities in their names: The Eichlers have ‘berry’ at the end of their names. These streets are, in no particular order: Idylberry, Newberry, Appleberry, Mulberry, Blackberry, Loganberry, Cedarberry, Kernberry, Danberry, Juniperberry, Elderberry, Idylberry, Flaxberry, Huckleberry and Greenberry. The “Berry” homes are located west of Miller Creek Road.

The “Stone” neighborhood is mostly East of Miller Creek Road, as in the streets named: Peachstone, Opalstone, Blackstone, Flagstone, Windstone, Deepstone, Cobblestone, Ironstone, Unionstone, Rhinestone, Johnstone, Heatherstone, Millstone, and Valleystone; and the woods: Quietwood and Pinewood.

Almost all the “Berry” homes were built by the famous mid-century modern builder Joseph Eichler. These mid-century modern “Eichler homes” as they are known have become very popular in recent years, as they are one-story homes that live with a feeling of letting the outdoors in and tend to be very family friendly in their design.
