It’s Memorial Day Weekend 2017.  Make sure you personally thank any current or former military personnel you come in contact with for their dedication and service.  You might even ask them to join you in whatever local fun things you are planning to do with family and friends in the San Rafael neighborhoods of Marinwood & Lucas Valley this Memorial Day Weekend; May 26-29?

Are you thinking about retirement?  Are you already retired? Are you worried about keeping your mind and body healthy as you get older?  If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions then you just might want to begin your Memorial Day Weekend by looking into a regular program at the San Rafael Public Library called The Next Chapter: Retirement.  There’s a monthly meeting on the 4th Friday of the month and tomorrow’s meeting will enable you to enjoy a yoga class that you can actually do with very little problem.  So, click here to read more about this month’s session.  Then, click here to get all the details about this FREE class.

And if you still need some last minute items for you own barbecue today or tomorrow, everyone knows the best place to get fresh meats and produce in the Marinwood area is the Marin Sunday Farmers Market at the Marin Civic Center.  It’s the largest community gathering in the state and it’s a superb place to stock up on all your favorite fresh fruits & vegetables, breads, eggs, cheeses, meats and seafood for the coming week.  Visit the AIM Instagram feed to see pictures from all the other farmers markets under the Agricultural Institute of Marin banner.

This weekend brings you the 45th Annual Muir Beach Volunteer Firemen’s BBQ. in the Santos Meadow section of Mt. Tamalpais State Park.  Every year, it’s a great family fun event.  There’s delicious food, kids activities and dancing to live music.  This year, the music is provided by the opening band, Soul Ska; followed by local favorites Andre Pessis and his All-Stars.  As I’m sure you know, the Firemen’s BBQ is the annual fundraiser, and festive gathering, for the Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
